Yep. New word tonight. DISBELIEF !!! disbelief that my son is 14 today, and disbelief that I gave in and agreed he “needed” a MOPED for his 14th birthday.
But I will look on the BRIGHT side.
No more running all over town (actually my daughter does that) as he believes she is his personal chauffeur. !!!!! this saves HER gas money.
Since we funded this machine, I ought to be able to take it on MY errands, therefore saving MY gas as well.
ok. 2 positives. I will be in denial of the negatives for now, and have FAITH that all will be fine. I will also try to forget the places I (and my husband) went as a teenagers on mopeds. 😮
{sigh}

Have FAITH, all will work out. After all you said they are good kids so trust that you have raised them to be responsible also. Jean

I certainly hope so. It is all about PREPARING them for these next phases of life, and I trust they (and me) are ready!!!

This mornings word for me is blessed. I wake up every morning blessed. I am blessed that I found great sleep that rested me well. I am blessed that I have my hubin to sleep next to. I am blessed that I could walk this morning and I am blessed that I have a job to leave to go to.

and such SIMPLE things to feel blessed about!! that is great!!

“Mommy” is my favorite word today. It means I have kids (which I thought wouldn’t happen). And they are still young enough to think I really do know everything. My favorite is when it is preceded by “You’re the bestest (sic)”. I am also thankful that my Mommy is still living and I can talk with her whenever I want.

enjoy it now, as soon enough, they will think you know NOTHING!!! haha. My daughter is finally coming back around to think maybe mom does know what she is talking about AFTERALL….and she is 16. 🙂 but enjoy those mommy moments. They are all too soon gone, as well as FULLY enjoy your mom!!! you are very lucky!! I lost my mom when I was 30. She was 60. 😦

I hope you meant that you are definitely “tickled” and not “ticked” to see how many responses…Otherwise, we’re in trouble! =)

OMG !!! I got it edited right away!!! shame on me. Funny how one little letter gives a completely different message!! haha I am very TICKLED!!!!! 🙂

I think I rival your son in my own sheer JOY he got this for his birthday! I really had my fingers crossed for him!!! I’m SO EXCITED for him!!! I understand your reservations when making the decision to do this. What an opportunity to teach/show trust, responsibility, respect for the law, (the law of physics included!!), independence and preparation for leaving the nest, etc. WOW.
From what I’ve read on this site, it seems you have raised some great kids. I am certain he will rise to the occassion and make sure you don’t regret this decision!

Oh that is so nice of you!! it worked!!! and he can not stop admiring it!!!!
and I keep reminding him, I do have the authority to TAKE the keys if need be. …….remember, he is the child of mine that kind of likes to push his limits on occasion!!! 😮
July 23, 2009 at 12:29 am
Its his job to press limits. Heehee! I know its how I learned the WHY of obedience..the result of consequences. So you may have the pain of taking the keys away but better to learn at 14 than at 18 and away at college and at an age when the consequences are significantly greater. Its just great to watch you help him grow up. Im rooting for him! So…does he have a helmet and some boots? There are cool decal kits for helmets.
July 23, 2009 at 6:34 am
helmets??? he laughed at me when I suggested it. Sad to say, I know MUCH better, but asking a kid around here to wear a helmet is asking for ridicule!!! we will see, I might win in the end. 🙂

My favorite word is Positive. Often times I need a reality check & just need to start from scratch and BE POSITIVE that everything will be ok. That all will be well. That God will take care of everything.
My step-daughter turned 14 yesterday.. But moped wasn’t on the list. We’re still working on driving period. (-: Take care, Amber
July 22, 2009 at 10:00 pm |
Good luck with that Amber!!! I swear my son knew the fundamentals of driving EARLY on. Being a passenger in his sisters Barbie Jeep!! honestly, it is amazing how well he has always driven mowers, etc etc…..and he really IS a cautious driver. I wish you well. The rest of the driving techniques has been left up to my husband….I do not have the patience. 🙂

I like the word OOPS! Like when you majorly goof up trying to be a giving person and you get the major wrong gift. Awesome!
August 12, 2009 at 6:25 am |
ROTFL !!!!! yeah, good choice of words. Here. Happy Birthday. oops, never mind, we are giving it back for a full refund. Ok. Now, take your test 19 times like you should have done in the first place. Ok Here is a different birthday gift. Ok, now don’t use it until you take the required “safety course” in 2 weeks. grrrrrrr….no wonder the kid is hard to get along with some days.
